Home away from home

2nd May 2018

East or west home is best. Mwamba field study center is home away from home. With a beach-front and a forest surrounding the center it’s an amazing place to chill and hear the waves from your room.

The serenity, tranquility and warmth from the staff often makes one want to stay longer. On arrival you are greeted by beautiful smiling Pauline; in-charge of hospitality who after you’ve had a short break gives you an orientation and tour around the place.

Shoe fit for all

Meet a few of our guests in March and April 2018!

Juliana Britton found us in Lonely Planet.

Juliana, a first time visitor got to know about Mwamba through Lonely Planet she was meant to stay for two days but ended up extending her stay. Read her review on Tripadvisor, and you’ll understand why!

Three generations from Nairobi for a restful holiday!

6 months old Nashe, her mother Angela and her grandmother Emily came down from Nairobi for some restful days before Easter – and added life and joy to our community at Mwamba. Nashe swam in the ocean for the first time!

”We have had an amazing time, fun at the ocean and good conversations with other guests”, says grandma Emily Obwaka, in everyday life the CEO of Teen Challenge Kenya. Angela works as HR officer of Life in Abundance International.

Ted Dyer comes every year– to rest and help.

80 years old Ted had a cake cutting session on the 26th of April. Due to his old age Ted doesn’t think he will get another opportunity to visit A Rocha Kenya next year. But we all hope to see him at least one more time. Since 2004 Ted has been coming to Mwamba and he has helped out a lot in repairs and grounds work. Having a grandfather and a great grandfather close for some has truly been great.

This year we are also happy to have hosted several groups; students from St Andrews Turi, Rift-valley Academy, Woodland Star Academy and youth-church leaders from Sweden who want to start A Rocha back home. It was such a joy to be full house.

Home for all

Mwamba reception: be welcomed and relax.

Mwamba not only offers you a place to relax. Being a field study center there are lots exciting activities that one is always welcome to join; bird ringing, beach clean-ups, nature walks. The activities are very optional but honestly you will not want to miss out on any of them.

Whether you are a first time visitor, a friend of a friend, alone, a couple, a group; Mwamba is always home for all.
